Dr. James Devassy

Chiropractor, Clinic Owner

Dr. Devassy is the clinic owner and chiropractor at Derry Village Physio, who was inspired to help his own patients after suffering his own sports injury as a teenager. He dedicates his time to providing his patients with the best chiropractic care possible in the Mississauga and Toronto area, and has a special interest in sports injuries.

Dr. Devassy’s journey into chiropractic healing began when he was 15 years old. He had severely injured his neck while training in martial arts which left him unable to move his neck. After seeking help from his family doctor and various physiotherapists, he still couldn’t move and decided to work with a chiropractor instead. With just one treatment, he was able to recover full range of motion in his neck.

His own journey of healing inspired him to find a passion and interest in sports injuries and chiropractics. After high school, Dr. Devassy graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. in biomechanics. From there, he attended Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, which is the most prestigious and highly regarded chiropractic college in the world. He graduated in 2005 and began practicing in several clinics until he arrived in Mississauga to open his own practice.

Dr. Devassy is dedicated to providing his patients with the best chiropractic care possible. He is considered to be one of the most highly trained chiropractors in Mississauga, and currently holds the highest certifications in the leading treatments, including Active Release Technique® and Graston Technique®. He has also extensively studied and received certification in Kinesio Taping®, acupuncture, applied kinesiology, and laser therapy.

With his fast range of education, training, and knowledge, Dr. Devassy is able to quickly and efficiently find and diagnose his patients’ problems and apply the most effective treatments. He does this with precision that produces results other practitioners have failed to achieve.

In his spare time, Dr. Devassy continues to practice martial arts and is an avid weightlifter. His experience with highly-disciplined sports gives him firsthand, working knowledge of the importance of using proper technique and returning to physical activity in a timely manner after an injury.
